Near Mint The low end of near mint and the high end of lightly played are essentially one and the same, so if you're a potential buyer, expect some grey area. 1 unionrodent • 10 yr. ago TCGplayer is tough because they are an aggregate of smaller retailers who might not grade consistently. frogdude's grading guide is definitely helpful, but cards I've gotten ranked MP have ranged anywhere from the Lightly Played to Heavily Played on that list.

For cheap cards (~$2 or less), the price difference between played and NM is tiny, so not worth the savings usually. For things in the 5-30 range, I might pick "slight play" or "lightly played" over NM to save 3-5 dollars.
